MEN’S SINGLE SCULLS (M1x) – Czech Republic
Ondrej Synek “It was a dream season. I would have never
imagined winning all races. I expected a hard race today and
I was prepared for that. I’m very happy – it’s my first gold
medal. My tactic was very easy: to be
good from start
to finish. It was
a big race, but
after 1000m
I knew I would
win, because
I have power and
a good stroke.”

Frida Svensson “I went as hard as possible from the start to
see how long it lasts and today it lasted all the way. It was a
tough course with strong girls. I might be the smallest girl,
but I never give up !”
Lindsay Jennerich “At the 750m I felt very confident
and determined to stay in front. I knew we were rating
at a good pace, but also knew we could lift it up. But
I’ve seen the Greeks sprint across the finish line before.
It’s not done until you cross the line.”
Tracy Cameron “That was an unbelievable and
amazing race and I’m sitting here
with gold.”

what to say. It’s our first gold medal at this level and it’s the
best feeling ever. The conditions were very bad, but we pulled
it through.”

quietly confident coming into this race, but we also knew that
we had to bring our best race. And we are pleased with the result.”
Anna Watkins “The crowd is so loud, you can’t help but race
your game on that last 500m.”

Nathan Cohen “It’s an awesome
feeling. I can’t even describe it. It hasn’t
even sunk in. We could hear everyone
yelling, so we had full blinkers on and
we were sprinting for the finish line. We always wanted this
day to happen, but with the quality of the competition we
didn’t know. It’s a dream come true for Joe and I.”
Joseph Sullivan “We stuck to what we decided and didn’t let
anything phase out. We did everything to plan.”
