Peter Thiede is well-known as the cox leading Germany’s famed eight to multiple
victories. He raced his last race at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, after
beginning his coxing career in 1987 in East German colours. At the 1989 World
Rowing Championships in Bled he won his second silver medal in the men’s eight.
Throughout his career, he coxed boats to 10 World Championship medals and one
Olympic silver.
